SUPP launched their election theme: ‘Safeguard Sarawak with more Autonomy’

SUPP  launched their election theme ‘Safeguard Sarawak with more Autonomy’ during their 24th Annual Delegates Conference Sunday  at their party headquarters, where delegates from all over 42 branches turned up in full force.

Also invited to witness the grand ceremony were former presidents of SUPP, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr. George Chan and Tan Sri Peter Chin.

In their party resolutions, one was to affiliate to the party’s political theme to increase the number of Parliament Seats for Sarawak as party demands for adequate representation in parliaments to safeguard Sarawak and Sabah interests, especially when parliament can use 2/3rd majority to pass law affecting Sabah and Sarawak.

The party also demand a higher percentage of returns on the collection of taxes, especially collection from the Goods and Services Tax (GST) from the federal government. The taxes must be fully refunded back to the state for more development projects.

The party also wanted an upgrade in the education facilities and development of languages among various races especially teaching in the English medium.

The party also seek to defend the 1970 agreement; ‘A Clean and Efficient Government’ with the concept of power sharing in administering the state Government with determination to fight against corruption and malpractices and to safeguard the land and natural resources in the state that belongs to the people of Sarawak while also defending the privileges of the natives and ensuring that they are protected by law.

They also wanted to ensure that there are more Sarawakians heading the head of Federal departments in Sarawak and having 90 percent of teachers in schools in Sarawak are locals.

Other resolutions from the theme includes increased ownership of Oil and Gas resources return from 5% to 20% and promoting awareness of the people on their rights.

Another resolution was to safeguard the Immigration Autonomy, Religious Freedom and Just and Fair Commercial Activities in Sarawak.
