人联党青年总团与中央妇女组针对马大实行“零余额”政策发表联合声明,表示该政策对学生带有压迫性且不公平。 人联党青年总团长拿督程明智表示,砂人联青和妇女组支持马大生的请愿,要求马来亚大学取消其“零余额”政策。 他表示,马大的这一决定在学期开始前给学生们带来了极大的焦虑和担忧。这些学生大多数不是来自富裕家庭,大部分是高等教育基金(PTPTN)和其他奖学金的受惠者。这项政策给学生,尤其是来自低收入家庭的学生带来了不必要的经济压力。 “大学本应支持学生的学术之路,但此政策反而使那些家庭经济不优渥的学生在获得教育机会的路上遇到了阻碍。” 他说。 作为砂公共卫生、房屋和地方政府副部长的程明智表示,该政策意味着学生必须在第一学期开学前缴清学费才能入学。 “可之前,学生只需在学期考试前缴清费用即可。这种做法让学生有时间在学期内找到支付学费的方式,或等待高等教育基金发放款项给大学。” 与此同时,人联党中央妇女组主席兼砂总理政治秘书许德婉表示,当她与拿督程明智出席“Lan Berambeh”交流会时,遇到了许多来之砂拉越的学生,特别是马大的学生。 她说,这些学生皆对该政策表达了担忧之心。 “许多学生正在寻找支付学费的替代方案。这不对,因为学生不应该因支付学费而感到如此焦虑。”她感叹道。 许德婉指出,学生们应该专注于学习,而不是像如今这样为学费担忧。况且,学生们在签署录取通知书时,并未提及“零余额”政策。 “因此,我们坚决反对这一政策,并呼吁马来亚大学取消该政策。”许德婉说道。

Lo Khere Chiang helping the less fortunate
SUPP Batu Kitang, Dato IR Lo Khere Chiang send a wheelchair to a cancer patient, Zulaidi in Kampung Haji Baki yesterday. Lo said due to his cancer, Zulaidi has difficulty moving around. Thus, the family requested a wheelchair for him. He said Zulaidi expressed his appreciation and was thankful for the wheelchair as he can be mobile instead of just lying down. With Lo were Batu Kitang branch Organising Chairman, Gerald Goh and KK Harzim Abdul Rani.
