Deputy Minister Datuk Sebastian Ting gave RM200,000 to upgrade facilities of Miri Disabled Association
Deputy Minister for Tourism Sarawak Datuk Sebastian Ting has allocated RM200,000 under the 2026 Rural Transformation Programme to assist in upgrading the facilities of the Miri Disabled Association, with the aim of improving the activity environment for its members.
His political secretary, Mr Chai Kah Frung, together with SUPP Piasau Branch Youth treasurer Mr Pang Hok Seng, representatives from the Miri Piasau Village Development and Security Committee, as well as officers from the Miri Public Works Department, conducted a site visit this morning to assess the required improvement works.
Chai said that following discussions with the association’s secretary Mr Abdul Aziz and its committee members, several priority projects have been identified. These include upgrading the multi purpose hall, constructing a stage, adding a walkway, and planning for a badminton court.
He added that the upgrading works will be carried out with the assistance of the Miri Piasau Village Development and Security Committee.
According to him, the allocation was successfully applied for and approved through the 2026 Rural Transformation Programme by Ting, with the objective of providing a more comfortable and well equipped space for members to carry out activities and gatherings.
He said that the association’s premises, including the multi purpose hall, not only offer a safe and convenient environment, but can also serve as an important platform for persons with disabilities to interact, learn, and develop themselves.
