RTP 2027 drainage upgrade proposed for Jalan Hui Sing Lorong 5/2 and 5/4
Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin has conducted a site visit together with officers from Kuching South City Council (MBKS) to inspect a proposed drainage upgrading project at the back lane of Jalan Hui Sing Lorong 5/2 and Lorong 5/4 under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2027.
According to Yap, the visit was carried out following requests and complaints from residents regarding the poor condition of the back lane and the existing drainage system, which have raised concerns over environmental hygiene, water flow and long term maintenance.
He said the proposed project forms part of ongoing efforts to improve public infrastructure and enhance the living environment for residents in Kota Sentosa.
“Proper drainage infrastructure is essential to prevent water stagnation, reduce the risk of flooding and maintain a clean and safe environment for the community.
“Residents have highlighted the deteriorating condition of the back lane and drains in this area. I have requested MBKS officers to assess the situation on site so that the necessary upgrading works can be planned and implemented in a systematic manner,” he said.
Yap added that he would continue working closely with the relevant authorities to address issues affecting residents based on the urgency and severity of each matter raised.
He stressed that infrastructure improvement projects require proper planning, prioritisation and coordination with implementing agencies to ensure effective and sustainable solutions.
Yap also reaffirmed his commitment to engaging with residents, local councils and relevant agencies to identify and address infrastructure needs throughout Kota Sentosa, ensuring development remains responsive to the needs of the community.
