Datuk Sebastian Ting receives Outstanding Tourism Pioneer Award
Datuk Sebastian Ting, Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, has been awarded the Seoul International Travel Fair (SITF) Outstanding Tourism Pioneer Award in recognition of his contributions to tourism development.
According to TVS, the award was presented during a ceremony held on June 4 at Il Hwa Dang, Samcheonggak in Seoul, South Korea, in conjunction with the 41st anniversary celebration of the Seoul International Travel Fair.
The award recognises leaders who have made a significant impact on the development of the global tourism industry and acknowledges their contributions towards promoting sustainable and inclusive tourism growth.
Presented annually to outstanding individuals from South Korea and abroad, the recipients are selected through a rigorous evaluation process conducted by the SITF Tourism Awards Selection Committee.
This year, seven recipients from South Korea and other countries were honoured with the award. Among them was Sri Lanka’s Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ruwan Ranasinghe.
The recognition highlights Ting’s efforts in promoting Sarawak as a tourism destination and his initiatives in advancing the state’s tourism industry on the international stage.
Now in its 41st edition, the Seoul International Travel Fair has become one of South Korea’s most prominent tourism exhibitions, serving as a platform for global tourism stakeholders to exchange ideas and strengthen international tourism cooperation and development.
