SUPP to contest in 21 seats in coming state election
SUPP vice President, Datuk Francis Harden revealed to the press that the party will be contesting in 21 seats this coming state election, an additional of 2 new seats.
Harden who was speaking at the 24th Annual delegates conference on Sunday, said members are united to work together to win over the lost seats. He said although it is an uphill battle, they will stand firm and strong.
SUPP, he said, would also be working on a united front with their partners in Barisan Nasional, that is the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera (PBB), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP). He said they will not be looking at any BN plus or whatever names called, as they only believed in working with BN partners.
Meanwhile, party Deputy President, Dato’ Sri Richard Riot said there will only one deputy president instead of two.
He lamented that having two deputy presidents would ruin the unity in the party. He said this based on the amendment of the SUPP constitution earlier this year.
On other parties having two deputies, Riot said PBB has two due to the merger of two parties, PESAKA and Bumiputera Party. SUPP, he pointed out, did not merge with any other party.
Riot also see a more united party than before.
