Helping out the unfortunate
Senior citizen Chai Zhen Hua got a surprise visit from Padawan Chairman Lo Khere Chiang yesterday morning. Lo was in MJC yesterday when he heard about Chai’s plights and went to see him. Chai was down with a stroke and had to move around on a wheel chair. He lives alone and received RM300 monthly assistance. Lo then brought him some food and urged members of the public to assist Chai in kind. He said Chai rented room costs him RM200 monthly.
Dr Sim on education autonomy
SUPP President, Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian did the ground breaking ceremony of the SJKC Stapok for the new school block. Dr. Sim said it is important that Sarawak has the education autonomy so that they can decide on their own how to plan on infrastructure, the curriculum, and the teaching resources. With that he said Sarawak education would grow for the betterment of the students.
沈桂贤：继续为尖山中公争取拨款
砂人联党主席拿督沈桂贤上议员于日前为石角尖山中华公学B栋新校舍工程主持动土礼。 他强调，州政府应向联邦政府争取教育自主权，这以后就可以决定州内的教育决策，包括硬体设施建设、课外活动等等。 他也表示，本身会继续向政府申请拨款，以协助尖山中公的发展建设工作。 他说，本身早在去年已为该校争取到50万令吉的联邦拨款，以及趣味骑脚车运动也成功筹到7万2000令吉。 另一方面，沈桂贤表示虽然尖山中公的学生只有区区300人，但土著占大部分，证明华校教育不仅是为华裔，同时也为其他族群。
包久松：人联收集民意反映消费税心声
人联党浮罗岸区潜能候选人包久松反驳行动党朋岭区州议员呼吁人联党参加4月2日的反对消费税集会，是后知后觉的行为，因为人联党古晋支部早在去年10月就提出了该签名运动。 他发表文告希望杨薇讳能以书面说明以下几项问题，作为参加集会的先决条件： 一是公布举行集会的准确时间与地点、二是公布向警方申请的集会准证、三是同意人联党代表与行动党有同样的发言时间，四是邀请中立人士主持集会及担任司仪。 “我希望人联党及民间团体的代表有机会在集会上表达意见，以收集思广益之效果。” 他同时质问，为何到此时此刻才办这场集会？ 他奉劝杨薇讳，如果只是为了选举的到来，做一场政治秀给人民看，来掩饰自己交不出这10年来的成绩单，那还真是为她感到悲哀。 包久松认为，由于消费税已经在国会立法通过并实施，反对党空喊反对已经无济于事，唯一的解决途径，就是通过砂州政府暂停实施消费税。 “人联党古晋支部发动签名运动的目的，就是为了收集足够的民意，一旦州政府向联邦收回税收权，将通过立法议会及州内阁提呈此动议。” “由于阿迪南已宣布取消住屋及100亩以下土地的地税，也宣布将收回被联邦剥夺了十多年的印花税，故此，要求州政府抚顺民意，暂停消费税以纾解民困的诉求是可预期实现的。” 因此，包久松欢迎任何政党与民间团体支持这项签名运动。 他说，如果行动党这次的反对消费税集会提不出解决办法，只想通过挑起不满来捞取选票，这种长期来为反对而反对的政治伎俩，对解决民困毫无用处。 包久松声称，行动党自夸阿迪南上任以来推行许多惠民措施，是火箭施压的结果，但是，行动党在上届全国大选后一跃成为全国最大反对党，那么到目前为止又对国会和联邦政策带来了什么影响？施压了什么结果？ “结果是，除了一致支持议员加薪的提案之外，其他的乏善可陈。所以，这反映了砂火箭只会捡现成的便宜。” 他强调，砂首长拿督巴丁宜丹斯里阿迪南沙登如今维护砂州自主权，并向联邦索回被剥夺的权力的行动，已经取得初步的成果，在巫统处于弱势的今天，是砂州索权的最好时机；唯有全民一致支持砂州国阵，做阿迪南的后盾，抵制西马政客来这里添乱，才是决定砂拉越命运的最佳途径，让砂拉越人的砂州有个美好的远景。
美里体育嘉年华会
砂人联党中央秘书长拿督陈超耀律师于日前出席美里马来社区领袖理事会举办的体育嘉年华会，约有600人出席该项活动。 他在致词时，表示类似的活动，可以鼓励更多人参与健康互动，值得发扬。 “除了提倡健康生活之外，这也可促进居民之间的情谊。” 他说，尤其是在甘榜地区，类似社区活动可以加强居民之间凝聚力，营造和谐气氛。
Bringing people together through sports – Dato Sebastian
A sport carnival can bring people together in harmony, said Piasau Chairman, Dato’ Sebastian Ting when officiating the Majlis Ketua Masyarakat Melayu Miri (MAKMUM) Sunday morning. Speaking to the 600 strong crowd at Kampung Piasau Utara, Ting said he was happy to see so many kampong people turning up for the sporting event. Secretary General of SUPP, Dato’ Sebastian Ting, who is also the Piasau Chairman, went to Kampung Api Api with Pujut chairman Adam Yii for a gotong royong. The two joined the kampung folks and was later introduced to the new Committee Members there.

Sarawak United Peoples Party president, Senator Datuk Dr.Sim Kui Hian, confirmed that he will be standing as a candidate either in Batu kawa or Batu Kitang. Dr.Sim has named three candidates – himself, Padawan Municipal council Lo khere Chiang and Batu kawa chairman, Tan Joo Phoi as potential candidates. He confirmed that he will stand either of the two constitution. Tan lost to DAP Christina Chiew in the last State election. Batu Kitang is a new seat.
人联青年团拒绝直属候选人方案
砂人联党青年团总团长陈开市议员表示，该团坚决反对在诗巫巴旺阿山及都东派上国阵直属候选人出战。 他强调，青年团在这方面的立场是毫无妥协的，上述两个选区应该由属于国阵成员党的人联党出战。 他说，在积极推动乡区发展之际，政府不应忽略社会发展，比如社会福利、道德、精神文化及社会公义。如果使用国阵直属候选人的方案，就会破坏政治的原则精神，及对首长拿督巴丁宜丹斯里阿德南沙登的利好政策效应带来影响。 “在国阵大家庭里，彼此尊重及互不干涉内部的原则应该继续受到维护，若使用直属候选人方案，肯定会摧毁这个精神原则。” 陈开说，人联党于1970年与土保党一起组织联合政府，并在此后一直协助落实砂州的发展。在1987年爆发的明阁事件，人联党仗义挺身而出，支持土保党。而这一次，人联党希望首长能够捍卫政治原则精神，维护政治道德、让砂州人民可以看到社会公义的存在。 他表示，人联党从2015年年中就开始积极准备选举，并且有信心赢回失去的议席。不过，若候选人最终并非来自人联党，势必会影响人联党的士气。

SUPP President, Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian donated senate grant to 59 groups of association at the SUPP headquarters yesterday. He urged recipients to use the money generously for their Association’s benefit. Dr. Sim also urged recipients to give their support to the SUPP so that they could service them more. He said each BN representatives could get RM4 million for their constituency and with the money, they could be able to build more projects.
