SUPP Press Statement 13 April 2016

Another Desperate Move by DAP: SUPP Wronged for Being Honest.

We condemn DAP Christina Chiew’s ill-intentioned, malicious, untrue Facebook posting and the subsequent lodging of a police report where she fabricated the story and accused SUPP Batu Kawah Service Centre because we SUPP insisted on following the rules and legal procedure.

At the Resident’s Office’s (RO) request, SUPP HQ was asked to help distribute some 4824 BR1M vouchers to qualified recipients in the Padungan, Pending, Batu Lintang, Kota Sentosa and Batu Kawah areas. Having the people’s interests at heart, the RO wants to avoid any possible delays in distribution the vouchers; and to ensure that only qualified recipients receive their BRIM vouchers at the soonest possible.

Since 23rd March 2016, SUPP HQ have distributed some 3132 vouchers; and for those uncollected ones, we have been making calls and urge qualified residents to come forward to collect their BRIM vouchers.

This time around, Mr Lim Ah Ted, representative from the Batu Kawah SUPP Service Centre, then decided to take the initiative to personally deliver some 125 BR1M Vouchers to qualified residents in Batu Kawah. It has always been our policy that we only deliver the voucher to the intended recipient and we need to check against the Photo ID/ Identity Card for verification before we can release the voucher. Any uncollected and undelivered vouchers must be returned to the party HQ, to be handed back to the RO. Every piece of voucher is being accounted for and reports audited.

Of the 125 BR1M Vouchers being delivered by Mr Lim Ah Ted to Batu Kawah, 31 vouchers were indeed addressed to DAP Ms Chiew’s office. We did not know who are those recipients but those 31 vouchers have registered their address at this DAP service center. However this is against the collection policy because we cannot release the voucher to just anyone at the address. We must hand deliver every piece of voucher to the intended recipient and we need to conduct the verification process.

This verification process had apparently upset DAP Chiew. She demanded that vouchers being handed over to her and she threatened Mr Lim by saying that she wants to issue a press release if Mr Lim refuses. Mr Lim was not able to satisfy her demand because handling over vouchers to anyone aside from the recipient is a crime. SUPP wants to comply to the guidelines given by the RO.

We do not understand what’s her intention in this matter and fortunately our Mr Lim did not comply to her demand. Instead, Mr Lim suggested that she goes directly to SUPP HQ to submit her request but she declined. DAP Ms Chiew then threatened SUPP that she will issue a press statement on the matter and complain about SUPP. Mr Lim was puzzled and did not know what to do.

SUPP is now being accused by DAP that we have ‘stolen’ the BRIM Vouchers. Our good name has been smeared by her on her FB and she claimed that a police report has been made.

SUPP has all along been upholding the spirit of integrity and transparency but now we are accused of stealing when we insist on doing the right thing. It is so apparent that this desperate move by DAP to accuse us is an attempt to distract the voters from her failure to serve the people in Batu Kawah over the last 5 years. This is another cheap publicity stunt by DAP which is uncalled for.

We demand that she retracts all the false accusations against SUPP and to issue an immediate apology for impugning our integrity; failing which, we reserve the right to take all necessary legal actions against her.
