沈桂贤：政府与民间组织携手关注动物课题
砂地方政府部长拿督沈桂贤指出，政府将于砂拉越防止虐待动物协会密切合作，以携手关注涉及动物的课题，比如流浪动物捕获、结扎、注射疫苗和释放计划。 他表示，其部门也将于该协会探讨各相关法令与条例，以便更有效的控制动疾病的传染。 他说，由于城市和半郊区流浪狗猫数量增加，砂州地方政府部门与砂越防止虐待动物协会达成共识，在全砂展开“捕获、结扎、接种疫苗和释放计划”，以减少流浪动物，杜绝流浪动物之间的传染病。 “我们要减少流浪动物，同样也需预防流浪动物之间传染病，因为近年来的大型传染病，如禽流感、非典型肺炎等都是通过动物传播开来。” 沈桂贤是于昨日为2016年动物繁殖管理工作营主持开幕礼上致词时如是披露。 拿督沈桂贤说，动物福利法令于2015年在国会通过，但目前仅在西马半岛和纳闽实施。沙巴于2015年11月也在州议会通过动物福利法令。 因此其部门将召见动物福利组织的代表进行磋商，探讨联邦的动物福利法令，加以修改以符合本州情况，之后列入砂州1999年公共卫生法令。 他说，虽然砂州并没有疯狗症的案例，但必须提高警惕，毕竟这个疾病会从印尼边境传入砂州。 出席者包括古晋北市市长拿督阿都华合和砂拉越防止虐待动物协会会长黄多娜。
走访古晋美食节
配合古晋节而举行的美食节正在浮罗岸路民众会堂举行，现场有各式各样传统美食摊位，让民众选择。同时，来自本地公会社团也设立摊位，售卖各籍贯的传统美食。 砂地方政府部长兼砂人联党主席拿督沈桂贤于2日傍晚，与人联党党员及社区领袖走访古晋美食节，与当地商家和民众交流。 众人也到古晋潮州公会的摊位，享用潮州美食。
古晋南市市议员宣誓
古晋南市新任副市长赫尔米奥夫曼与30位新届市议员，于8月1日在砂地方政府部长拿督沈桂贤见证下宣誓。 在场包括古晋南市市长拿督曾长青。 砂人联党共有13名市议员代表，成为名额最多的政党。他们分别是黄廉欢、廖健新、蔡国钧、许德婉、姚楚兴、王志强、林瑞钊、杨岩彬、莫壮平、吴芝辉、宋开强、刘世栋及温燕薇。 沈桂贤在致词时，呼吁所有市议员与市民一起，为古晋打造更舒适的生活环境。 他说，地方议会扮演政府服务的前线角色，当人民面对问题时，第一时间就会想到市议会。因此，市议会必须要认真做好自己的职责，包括基本的民生服务如剪草、清理垃圾、路灯和沟渠问题等等。 与此同时，他也呼吁市议员跳出传统的思维框框，使用蓝海策略的模式，加强地方议会服务。 他强调，他会一直支持地方议会，与议会共同携手为人民提供良好的服务。
陈超耀移交赛益奥曼国小报告书予部长秘书
砂人联党卑尔骚州议员拿督陈超耀律师日前将美里市赛益奥曼国小课室的木质地板遭白蚁蛀蚀腐烂的完整报告书，移交给现任教育部长玛哈兹卡力的机要秘书嘉顿阿里。 美里赛益奥曼国小其中一座旧校舍课室木质地板已经被白蚁蛀蚀，在上月28日，一名7岁小女生在课室走动时，地板塌下，导致其小腿被卡住。 身为美里卑尔骚人民代议士的拿督陈超耀，丝毫不敢怠慢处理该校课室暗藏危机的问题。小女生的脚被腐烂地板卡住事发不到5天，陈超耀已把该校面对白蚁蛀蚀课室的问题，亲自到联邦教育部门提交报告书，并要当局即刻采取行动解决问题。 拿督陈超耀表示，他昨日下午约3时30分，亲手将美里赛益奥曼国小一栋旧校舍面对白蚁蛀蚀问题的完整报告书，提交给教育部，并由部长的机要秘书代为接收。 他认为，课室是学生学习的场所，必须确保安全。尽管数日前一名小女生小腿被腐朽地板卡住，虽然只是受了轻伤，但是，他绝对不会妥协学校任何设施会对学生安全存有潜在危险。 他认为所述事件，一定要尽快处理。更何况，前任副教长莫哈末卜查卡西是在2012年7月3日曾经巡视该间位于美里市区的赛益奥曼政小的校舍，已答允拨款修建该栋旧校舍。 他之前已利用电邮和手机通讯，向教育部长的机要秘书报告了木质地板遭白蚁蛀蚀腐烂，小女生脚陷腐朽地板的事件。同时，也于昨日正式提呈一份由该校家教协会拟出的完整报告书。
