Dr Sim stands by his words

SUPP will always open its door to any Chinese or Bumiputera, said President of SUPP, Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian.

Dr Sim said this when asked by reporters on the deadline by the Chief Minister on UPP and SUPP sitting down to discuss on the state seats.

He said he has already made known his decision to the Chief Minister three weeks ago.

On October 19, both SUPP and UPP were called for a meeting with Chief minister who wanted them to hold a meeting after selecting five members from both sides.

“What I said is what the SUPP Delegates want. We are a voice together. And what I have said to the people was what I told the Chief Minister,” he said.

Dr. Sim said he had not wanted to say one thing to the people and another thing to the CM. “As I say before SUPP is no more a towkay party and we do not say thing based on towkay want. We go by the wishes of the people,”  he stressed.

I believed in honesty and credibility of the party. There is, he added, no need for me to twist my words to suit the audience. We must be honest to the people so that we can earn their trust and confidence,” he said.

It was reported in a Chinese paper that the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister has agreed to allow both SUPP and UPP to contest without using the Barisan Nasional logo like what was done in SNAP and PBDS before.

Dr. Sim said it was a different scenario all together and that SUPP is a component party of the BN so there is no reason why they could not use the BN logo.

“In BN, we abide by the principals applied. And that was why we are strong and united as we go by those principals,” he added.

SUPP will be contesting in 19 seats, plus new seats in the coming state election.
