Dr Sim with the Sg Apong community
A new half million dollar hall has finally been completed for the Sg Apong community.
SUPP President, Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian said the Dewan Kpg Sungai Apong Kuching is really a reflection of the 1Malaysia community concept.
He said two years ago, the project was planned but unfortunately, it took a while to complete it with a lot of gotong royong involved.
Dr. Sim said Kampung Sungai Apong has always been in his family’s heart. Thirty years ago, his late father Tan Sri Datuk Amar Sim Kheng Hong, helped resettle bumi squatters for rural-urban migration.
Now every house at least one of the children is a university/college graduate. Every house there has at least one who can speak Mandarin (the local Chinese Primary School).This is, he added, a success story.
The hall can be used for sports activities and dinner functions.
