SUPP helping out residents of Kampung Merikan

Sarawak United Peoples Party Secretary General, Dato Sebastian Ting had arranged with Superintendent of Land and Survey Department Miri, Douglas Pungga, the handing over of the Letters of Offer dated 18th December 2014 from the Government of Sarawak, through Land and Survey Department Miri, to the residents in Kampung Merikan.

Ting said he had informed Douglas that he had spoken to Ketua Kaum Lenggu Anak Nait that they would go to their Kampung on Sunday.

Douglas has been kind and accommodating and immediately arranged with his enforcement team to hand over the Letters yesterday at 12 noon, together with Datuk Lee Kim Shin.

There were 71 families who had stayed at the present site for about 30 years, as squatters. The Government has approved 62 applications and Letters of Offer were handed over today. The other 10 families have been advised to followup with Land and Survey Department.

The successful applicants would have to pay RM68 ringgit and write a letter of acceptance. SUPP (Piasau) will help them to prepare the Letter of Acceptance.

The successful applicants have jointly thanked the followings;

1) Chief Minister of Sarawak YAB Datuk Pattinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem for the quick approval of these applications.

2) The Superintendent of Land and Survey Department, Tuan Hj Yunus, and acting Superintendent Mr Douglas Panggu and his Enforcement Team for working on Sunday

3) Tan Sri Peter Chin, former Minister of Energy Green Technology and Water for his help.

4) Datuk Lee Kim Shin for joining us to witness the handing over the Letters of Offer

5) SUPP Miri (Piasau) Branch, Adam Yii Branch chairman of SUPP Pujut and Lee Thin Hin Branch Chairman SUPP Lambir.

6) The owner of the land who had been so understanding and allowed them to continue to stay at the present site until the allocation of lots from the Government.

All parties concerned are happy for the successful applicants. They said this is the best Christmas and New Year present from our YAB Datuk Pattinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem.
