SUPP 2025 Delegates’ Conference Outlines Key Resolutions for Sarawak’s Progress
The Sarawak United Peoples’ Party has announced a series of resolutions during its 2025 Annual Delegates’ Conference, reaffirming its support for the state leadership and outlining priorities for social welfare, education, and political stability.
The party stated that it remains committed to supporting the leadership of the Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, and fully backs his development blueprint for Sarawak. SUPP also pledged full cooperation with other GPS component parties as preparations begin for the upcoming thirteenth Sarawak State Election.
SUPP further urged the Government to strengthen national strategies to combat misinformation and disinformation, warning that the growing impact of social media echo chambers poses risks to social harmony, democratic values, and national stability.
On education, the party called on the Ministry of Education to recognise mental resilience as an essential aspect of student well being, recommending that mental health education and emotional resilience programmes be incorporated into the national school system.
SUPP also proposed that the Sarawak Government introduce a Sarawak Elderly Welfare Scheme which would provide annual financial assistance of RM 1,000 to senior citizens aged 65 and above to improve their quality of life and social protection.
The party reaffirmed its commitment as a core GPS component, emphasising its dedication to the principle of placing Sarawak First and prioritising the interests of the state. SUPP highlighted the importance of strong, united, locally based political parties and called for continued close cooperation within GPS to preserve political stability and protect the well being of all Sarawakians.
Additionally, SUPP urged the Sarawak Government to ensure that all Sarawakian senior citizens qualify for assistance under the Senior Citizens Health Benefit Scheme.
