Kota Sentosa State Assemblyman Wilfred Yap today presented contributions totaling RM19,000 to support educational and community programmes at SK Mejar Jeneral Dato Ibrahim, underscoring his strong commitment to education and community development in his constituency.

A sum of RM14,000 was handed over to Mejar Mohd Syahril Bin Jopri, Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) of SK Mejar Jeneral Dato Ibrahim, to fund the school’s sports and education programmes. These programmes aim to nurture students’ potential in both academics and co-curricular activities, contributing to their holistic development.

Additionally, RM5,000 was contributed to the 11th Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment (11 RAMD) to support the school’s gotong-royong initiative, which promotes community spirit and collaboration. The cheque was handed over by Yap to Lieutenant Colonel Badrul Hisham Bin Ibrahim, Commanding Officer of 11 RAMD.

Also present at the handover ceremony were Cikgu Raizal Bin Zaine, Headmaster of SK Mejar Jeneral Dato Ibrahim, Penghulu Lai Boon Khee, and Kapitan Lee Tho Fung.

In his speech, Yap highlighted that investment in education is one of the most important pillars of nation-building. He stressed that a well-educated and well-rounded young generation will not only strengthen Sarawak’s competitiveness but also ensure Malaysia’s continued progress.

“Education is the foundation upon which we build the future of our nation. By supporting schools, teachers, parents, and the community, we are equipping our children with the knowledge, discipline, and values they need to contribute meaningfully to society,” said Yap.

He further reaffirmed his commitment to improving educational facilities and opportunities within Kota Sentosa, pledging to continue working closely with schools, parents, and community leaders to ensure that no child is left behind.

“As the Assemblyman for Kota Sentosa, I will continue to prioritise initiatives that empower our children through education. Our future depends on their success, and their success depends on the support we provide today,” he added.
