Burned victim, Syafiq receives help from Sarawak Hun Nam Siang Tng

State Assemblyman for Batu Kitang, Dato Lo Khere Chiang went with Sarawak Hun Nam Siang Tng Penghulu Tian Sin Hua to visit fire victim, Mohamad Syafiq Mohamad Ali Hanaffiah who was seriously burned last August.

Lo who has been assisting Syafiq all these while said he has arranged with Hun Nam Siang Tng to donate rice and dry food items to Syafiq monthly.

Syafiq a volunteer of Civil Defence Force (APM) volunteer was painting a house when he sustained severe third-degree burns over 75 per cent of his body while trying to save a boy after a house next door caught fire. Tragically, the boy did not survive.

Lo said he Syafiq is still bedridden while undergoing an unbearably painful recovery process. ” He is getting better slowly and can now talk and his mother Julia Jemat, 56, who is also a single parent of six is struggling to care for him,” he said.

Syafiq’s wounds need to be dressed every two days and his recovery may take three years.

Julia works as a cook at the Kuching Narcotics Rehabilitation Centre (Puspen), said her income is not enough to cover his treatment which costs about RM3,000 per month for medicine and food and with undergoing physiotherapy in near future, it will cost more.

She however thanked all donors from all races and religion who came to help them in kind and cash.

Lo urged the public to continue to give help to hero Syafiq.
