1Malaysia and sharing the spirit of Ramadan
Publicity Chief of SUPP, Dato’ Sebastian Ting who is also Piasau branch Chairman, leads a classical example of what harmony and unity is all about.
In every festival, be it Chinese New year, Gawai, Hari Raya, Deepavali or Christmas, Ting is always at the forefront to share with what he has and to go to the ground to ensure that the less fortunate gets some happiness from what he has to give.
As Gawai is just ending, it is not unusual to find Ting at the most remote villages to share the joy of the closing of the Gawai or to be presented at odd hours to be with the orphanage for sahur.
In this month of Ramadan, Ting is doing what a good Muslim will do – spread the joy around. Since the start of Ramadan, Ting has liaise with mosques, NGOs, JASA and other organisation to give away bubur lambuk and food stuffs to the less fortunate and share the experience of sahur with the young and less fortunate.
He also took to the streets in Miri to give out bubur lambuk, a Ramadan specialty, to those still on the road.
In Sarawak, the land of unity, it is not surprising to see different races, cultures and religion spreading and sharing the joy of all their festivals.
