Senator Datuk Dr. Sim on new party UPP
SUPP Secretary general, Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian made it clear yesterday that the new party launched by Dato’ Sri Wong Soon Koh and Teras are not Barisan Nasional component parties.
Sim who made the comment after the launch said there is no such thing as being part of BN when they are not in BN or recognised by BN.
“The admission to BN still needs unanimous decision (everyone must agree) from the 13 BN component parties of which the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Adenan Satem, has confirmed on this. This is one of the key reasons why BN remain intact and united after 50 years. All the seats that belong to component parties be it PBB, SPDP, PRS and SUPP remains with component parties. They don’t belong to individual,” he added.
Sim said everyone must beware of individual leader with personal agendas.
He questioned how TERAS can splits even before they are formed.
Meanwhile SUPP youth chairman, Tan Kai said from what he read online from Wong’s press statement, he wondered how Wong could safeguard the Chinese if he is the only Chinese YB in UPP.
“We should stop breaking up the Sarawakians according to race as we are the most united state in Malaysia. We are all together, Dayaks, Chinese, Malays and all the component parties have helped all races. Why should we have a party to cater to only Dayaks and another to only Chinese? This is wrong,” said Tan.
Tan said the unity of BN is for all and not for individual. He hoped that those in Teras and UPP can see the damage they are creating.
Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) President, Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing expressed surprised that Dato’ Sri Wong Soon Koh has come up with another party even before the dust settled for Teras. Tan Sri William Mawan, who was former President of SPDP, had teamed up with Wong on May 15 to form Teras with Wong’s group and G4 group from SPDP.
Tiong said according to those in Teras, they were formed by a group of oppressed YBs from both Sarawak United People’s Party and his party. They claimed to want to work together with unity.
He said Wong was to come up with a party called “Peace” but before it even began, it was gone.
Tiong was very upset by the agenda of Mawan and Wong’s, both of whom claimed that Teras will be taking care of Dayaks and UPP for Chinese.
“I am confused and angry. Why do they want to tear Sarawakians apart. We are all one big family, Chinese, Malays, Dayaks, Orang Ulu. We are the most harmonious group in Malaysia and you want to tear the races apart? That is a terrible thing to do. It showed that these people are interested in their own personal agenda and not for the people of Sarawak.
Tiong said they should look at how the Prime Minister is trying his best to form 1Malaysia and our own Sarawakians are trying to break up the people. He hoped that people will see through the real intention of those in UPP and Teras.
“Whatever it is, we will never allow them to be in BN,” added Tiong.
