Employers should bear the cost of testing covid-19, says Milton Foo
Employers hiring foreign workers including those in construction and plantation sectors should pay SOCSO for them and should bear the cost of screening of Covic-19, said SUPP Central Youth Secretary, Milton Foo.
Foo said he was surprised why only 60 percent of the foreign workforce in Malaysia paid SOCSO and not all. He said despite so, it should be the employers to bear the cost of screen especially now that Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sbi Yaakob has announced it.
Ismail Sabri said that the testing will start in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, starting with those in the construction sector although he did not mention on foreign workers who did not contribute to SOSCO.
The decision was made mandatory for all foreign workers to be tested because they were worried there would be a cluster of foreign workers infected with the disease as what has happened in Singapore.
He said the employers should realized that whatever the government did was for the good of the country.
