Press Statement by SUPP Batu Kawa Branch Secretary, Mr. Lim Ah Ted

We refer to the statement by West Malaysia based DAP Sarawak leader, Chong Chieng Jen on the issue of the  parcel of land opposite the MJC along Jalan Batu Kawa.

1. SUPP has had opposed corruption of any form as well as  nepotism. She supports all anti-corruption exercises. SUPP’s stand on these subjects  had never changed. It would remain the same in the future.

2. On matter of public interests, SUPP maintains the practise of fair and just, and transparency, without any malpractice. This is the stand and principle observes by SUPP.

One such example is the tender over the RM333 million phase I sewage service plant in Miri. The Minister for Local Government Dr. Sim Kui Hian had insisted that the project must be carried out by public tender. SUPP needs  more state assembly seats and holds important portfolios.

3. With reference to the allegation by Mr. Chong on the sale of that parcel of land at MJC  at a much lower price, we challenge him to take legal actions to stop such deal if he holds  concrete evidences, rather than shouting in the  newspapers. Mr. Chong is a known lawyer, he should know the legal procedures over the issue.

4. Mr. Chong claimed that the transaction of the MJC parcel of land was done after Dr. Sim Kui Hian had been elected the state assemblyman for Batu Kawah constituency. This is in fact a real confrontation, a very rude allegation. It seems that  Dr. Chong is jealous  over the election of Dr. Sim that he puts all the blames over the  head of Dr. Sim.

Not long ago, Mr. Chong had blamed Dr. Sim for the closing of the MJC Maybank Branch. However, the bank also closed its Pending Branch. Why Mr. Chong kept quiet and never blamed Violet Yong for that?

Mr. Chong is playing double standard over the same issues turning himself  into an unqualified State Assemblyman.

5. In fact Mr. Chong had earlier questioning the  parcel of land opposite the BDC commercial centre. He should know that the parcel of land lies within the Kota Sentosa Constituency where Mr. Chong is the State Assemblyman, also within the DAP  Stampin MP’s constituency.

The DAP had claimed  to represent the interests of the people. If the  land deals as alleged by Mr. Chong were true, then, Mr. Chong and Mr.Tan should step down for failure in performing their duties. They should not continue to be paid by the people without performing efficient duties: just talk without actions is not enough.

6. The land issues in Sarawak were under the  jurisdiction of a specific  State Minister.  We fail to understand why Mr. Chong dares not to point his fingers at the said Minister. This leads people to  suspect that there may exist certain  secret arrangement between them, or that Mr. Chong is afraid to question PBB? He therefore plays against the Chinese, making SUPP the scapegoat.

7. In Penang, the DAP Chief  Minister cum DAP Secretary General  had sold the parcel of 102 acres of land at Bayan Mutiara at RM204 per square feet to a private developer, while the current price  in the area is now at RM420 per sq.ft.

However, Mr. Chong had kept mum and never called a press conference to question the  dealing of the Penang DAP State Government .Why he never questions the low price deals by the Penang DAP Government?

In fact, Mr. Chong has done his best to cover up the malpractices of his West Malaysia chiefs, and keeps quiet over  issues, including Lim Guan Eng’s purchase  of a luxurious bungalow at a low  price, reclamation of  land, hiking of water tariff and others. He chooses to become a hero in front of the Sarawak Chinese, happing on issues and making wild allegations.
