Deputy Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Dr. Zahid Hamidi paid a Chinese new year visit to the residence of President of SUPP, Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian, during his recent official trip to Sarawak.

SUPP President, Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian said there is serious need for flood mitigation to prevent flooding in low lying areas. Dr. Sim was visiting the Batu Kitang evacuation centre yesterday and this is the second time he has done so. He said it was very unfortunate that the flood victims have to suffer twice in a short time. Dr. Sim also gave away food packages to the victims.

SUPP President Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian praised the close relationship of the parents with the SJC Sg. Maong. He said during the Chinese New Year celebration at the school, parents and even grandparents turned up in full force to the school bringing potluck to share. Dr. Sim said it is due to such closeness that made a society successful and the school to grow.

SUPP President, Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian celebrated the Chinese New Year Celebration with Chung Hua Primary School No 5. He said it is important for the children to be aware of their cultural root and to share with other bumi students. The Hokkien Association held a Chinese new year gathering at the Chung Hua Primary School No 3 on Thursday night at the school hall. During the function, the Association held out a banner proclaiming their support to Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian. Dr. Sim has been actively involved in assisting Chinese schools in terms of school maintenance and upgrading the school facilities. He often joined the school board of management to attend school functions and give pep talks to students.
