SPCB Wilfred Yap helps RPR Taman Cahaya Moyan solve the stinking stench.

SUPP Public Complaints Bureau (SPCB) Chief, Wilfred Yap was recently approached by the residents of Block 2, 7 and 9 of RPR Taman Cahaya Moyan, Batu Kawa who complained to him on the overflowing main septic tanks.

Following the complaint received, Wilfred Yap together with an Officer from Majlis Perbandaran Padawan (MPP) immediately met up with the residents and went to inspect and assess the situation and also to see what can be done to resolve the problem. A preliminary checking with MPP records showed that desludging of the septic tanks in RPR Taman Cahaya Moyan, Batu Kawa was carried out last year and the Officer informed based on past experience that the main septic tanks should not be full.

After listening to the residents and after making a preliminary assessment of their problem, SPCB Chief Wilfred Yap on behalf of the affected residents of RPR Taman Cahaya Moyan, Batu Kawa requested Majlis Perbandaran Padawan to take immediate action to desludge the septic tanks.

When carrying out the desludging of the main septic tank, it was discovered that the piping outlet in the main septic tank was blocked due to a slipper, shoe and other rubbish. SPCB Chief Wilfred advised the residents not to throw items or rubbish into the main septic tank to prevent blockage in future.

It was also discovered during the inspection that one of the main septic tank at Block 5 of RPR Taman Cahaya Moyan, Batu Kawa was damaged due to sinkage caused by settlement of the soil. SPCB Chief Wilfred Yap requested the MPP Officer to write to Sarawak Housing Development Corporation to inform them of the problem and to request them to take immediate action to repair the damaged septic tank.
