Getting rid of illegal posters

The SUPP Public Complaints Bureau have recently received a lot of complaints on illegal posters put up by irresponsible parties. It is understood these complaints  of illegal money lender posters have been raised on several occasions during various MPP council meetings.

The enforcement team of Padawan Municipal Council and the SPCB recently participated in a patrol and enforcement duties covering Jalan Penrissen, 3rd Mile Maong Bazaar, Jalan Batu Kawa and MJC Batu Kawa New Township. The enforcement officers removed over 450 illegal money lender posters put up on trees, sign boards, lamp poles and public area. Expired advertisement banners and fishtail and other illegal banners were also removed. Despite regular removal by MPP enforcement officers, the problem persists and many more need to be removed.

SUPP PCB will continue to raise the issue of illegal money lender posters to the relevant authorities on the proliferation of illegal posters and banners as this is visual pollution and an eye sore. Furthermore, illegal money lender posters are against efforts by the Government to create a cleaner and greener living environment. Amongst the matters that will be brought up by would be for violators who put up illegal posters and banners pay for the removal costs, to prosecute violators to the full extent of the law to serve as deterrence and for an amendment to relevant laws to increase the penalty for offenders.

The Enforcement Team of MPP has also been requested to ensure that in future,  their staff shall increase the frequency of patrol and inspection of all public roads and housing estates in the MPP area and  ensure that illegal posters, banners and fishtails continue to be taken down on a regular basis.

On another matter and upon complaint received from the shop owners and traders from 3rd Mile Bazaar on a damaged drain cover, SUPP Public Complaints Bureau also requested the Enforcement Team of MPP maintenance department to put up a temporary wooden cover to prevent any untoward accidents.
