Dato Sebastian on delineation

This is the first time we come to know the exact boundaries and names of the 11 new constituencies proposed recommendations for the Federal and State constituencies in the State of Sarawak as reviewed by the Election commission in 2014, said Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Secretary General, Dato’ Sebastian Ting.

Sarawak State Assembly had passed a Bill to increase the number of constituencies in the State to 82 from the current 71. The last review of the electoral constituencies in Sarawak took place in 2005.

“At that time when the Bill was passed  , there was no specific names.  Now that we know what and where the boundaries are, SUPP will study the details and hold a discussion and thereafter to present our case to the Election Commission”, said Ting.

He said they will look into the whole 82 constituencies and particularly in areas where the seat is carved out off the old seat before they give their opinion. However, it appears that the urban representation is proportionally reduced and it will be a disappointment if this is indeed the case.
