Completed Drainage Project at Lorong Semaba 7

The State Assemblyman Kota Sentosa, Wilfred Yap, visited Lorong Semaba 7 today alongside officers from the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) to mark the completion of a key Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project involving the construction of concrete drainage infrastructure.

The project, valued at RM250,000, was carried out at the T-junction of Lorong Semaba 7 to address long-standing drainage and flooding problems in the area. With the drainage system now in place, local residents are expected to benefit from improved water flow, reduced risk of flooding, and better overall living conditions.

Yap described the project as part of his broader commitment to ensuring all areas of Kota Sentosa receive proper infrastructure upgrades.

“This is more than just a drainage upgrade as it is a promise that no part of Kota Sentosa will be left behind and many of our older residential areas still face basic infrastructure challenges, and I am working hard to resolve them”, he said.

MPP officers also conducted survey and assessment works at two additional sites at the opposite side of the same T-junction and another section of earth drains at Jalan Semaba near Lorong Semaba 11. These areas are earmarked for the next phase of drainage improvement under RTP 2026. The proposed works, which include the construction of concrete drains, are estimated to cost RM400,000. MPP engineers are currently preparing the necessary Bill of Quantities.

Yap added that he will continue to push for similar upgrades across the constituency through RTP and other government funding.

The visit is part of Yap’s ongoing series of weekly ground engagements, aimed at addressing residents’ needs directly. His approach reflects the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Government’s emphasis on inclusive development, particularly in semi-urban and suburban communities.

“Infrastructure goes beyond roads and drains,” Yap added. “It’s about dignity, safety, and improving the quality of life. I will continue this effort until every kampung, taman, and lorong in Kota Sentosa sees real progress.”
