Datuk Sebastian Ting inspects facility upgrades at Kampung Luak Primary School

Kampung Luak Primary School will receive an allocation of RM200,000 under the 2024 Rural Transformation Programme to upgrade several facilities, including the multipurpose covered hall, a small indoor hall, and the school’s sports court. These improvements aim to enhance the students’ learning and activity environment.

Sarawak Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Sebastian Ting visited the school this morning, accompanied by officials from the Miri Public Works Department and the Miri Education Department, to inspect and understand the necessary upgrades.

He said the multipurpose covered hall will undergo floor resurfacing and the addition of rain shelters to provide a safer space for assemblies and school activities. The small indoor hall will have its windows and other fittings replaced to improve comfort, while the sports court will be repaired to offer students better facilities for physical activities.

“This allocation will significantly improve the school’s infrastructure and create a more conducive environment for learning and extracurricular activities. It also reflects the government’s commitment to and support for rural education,” Ting said.

He added that good school facilities not only contribute to students’ physical and mental development but also strengthen the school’s role in serving the rural community. He expressed appreciation to the Education Department and the school’s management for their cooperation in ensuring the smooth implementation of the upgrade works.
