Miri flood cleanup effort supported by Shin Yang
A major cleanup operation is underway in Miri following recent floods, with strong support from the Shin Yang Group of Companies and local authorities.
Piasau State Assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting stated that the initiative began after Miri City Council Mayor Adam Yii contacted Datuk James Ling, Group Managing Director and Vice Chairman of Shin Yang Group of Companies, on Saturday, February 8.
On behalf of the Sarawak Government and the people of Miri, Ting expressed gratitude to Ling, his team, the City Council, and its staff for their swift action.
The cleanup initiative, launched today with representatives from the Miri City Council, aims to clear flood debris and restore affected areas. Shin Yang has mobilized a 35-person team, 10 ten-ton lorries, and two Bell Teleloggers to assist in the operation.
The initial phase of the cleanup will focus on Sungai Adong, Tanjung Batu, and Senadin, with other affected areas to follow in the coming days. The effort prioritizes the removal of damaged furniture, mattresses, clothing, and electrical appliances to help residents recover from the disaster.
This collaborative effort underscores the commitment of local authorities and private sector partners in ensuring a swift recovery for the Miri community.
