STATEMENT BY TAN SRI PETER CHIN FAH KUI, PRESIDENT OF SUPP ON 15th JULY, 2014.
There has been some speculations recently as to whether it is my intention to retire and not contest for the post of President of SUPP during the up-coming Triennial Delegates Conference 2014 (TDC 2014) which has been scheduled to be held on 23rd and 24th August, 2014.
In order to dispell all such speculations, I wish to state categorically that it is my intention to cease active participation in the administration of SUPP after the TDC 2014. As such I will not seek for (nor be pursuaded to accept) a nomination to contest for a seat in the SUPP Central Committee 2015 – 2017 during the TDC 2014.
In line with this decision, I am not seeking re-election as Chairman of the Bekenu Branch of SUPP. Therefore, I have not submitted the relevant nomination papers to the Branch today. I am thankful that the nomination processes have been smooth and no incident of disturbance had occurred here with the Bekenu Branch and elsewhere with other Branches.
I take this opportunity to thank all my fellow comrades from all over the State, in particular those from Miri and Bekenu, for their support and guidance over the past three decades plus of involvement in the Central Committee and Central Working Committee in one capacity or another. There has never been a dull moment working with everyone, particularly over the past two and a half years as President of the Party. I am honoured to have been able to contribute (and I hope positively) to SUPP, our beloved Sarawak and the Nation. And I realised that I am more fortunate than most people to have been given these opportunities by SUPP as well as the Barisan Nasional
I will remain a loyal member of SUPP and a staunch supporter of the Party and Barisan Nasional.
Tan Sri Peter Chin Fah Kui
15th July, 2014.
