Kho Teck Wan suggests outsourcing CAC and health assessment hotline for home quarantined COVID19 positive patients
Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Woman chief, Kho Teck Wan urged Sarawak State Health Department (JKNS) and Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) to reach out to the private practice doctors who are willing to participate in providing daily health assessment phone call to the home quarantined COVID19 patients.
She suggested that SDMC and JKNS should also consider outsourcing the physiacl COVID Assesmenr Center (CAC) to private practice doctors for a fixed period allowing more government healthcare personnels to be placed in hospital settings to concentrate on saving critically ill patients in the hospitals.
Kho said the doctor to patients ratio will reduce with such arrangement, which indirectly improve the quality of healthcare for patients in home quarantine. Private medical doctors can escalate any case that need medical attention to the government hospital, which could potentially prevented brought in dead cases.
On Sunday, Kho said there was two cases of “brought in dead” (BID) in Kuching aged 38 and 46 years old male with no underlying health condition. The 38 years old was positive since September 10 while the 46 years old male was positive since September 8.
“Although home quarantined patients are instructed to update their health condition daily through MySejahtera – a system to quickly identify and retrieve a patient whose health condition had progressively deteriorated at home should be put in place immediately. They have MySejahtera and google form but, unfortunately, not everyone made the report, ” she said.
As of today, Kho added, there are 29,788 positive covid19 patients undergoing home quarantine in Sarawak.
” I would like to propose that the daily health assessment of these stage 1 and 2 patients be outsourced to private practice doctors. As we work toward living with COVID19, our focus should be on saving life and reduce the daily death due to COVID19. The private practice doctors should considered working with JKNS and SDMC for such call made to provide health assessment to home quarantined COVID19 patients, ” she suggested.
