170 odd hawkers in Kota Sentosa have all been tested negative for covid 19.
Padawan Municipal Council (MPP)Chairman, Lo Khere Chiang who was in Kota Sentosa yesterday to distribute leafets on SOP advisory to the market and all the shops there said tests were carried out by the Health department after the cluster at Sentosa hospital was discovered.
He said it was a relief for the hawkers as the hospital is in the vincity of the town and called to the public to patronize the market as the goods are cheap and fresh.
The pilot project started in Kota Sentosa and they will continue to do so in other markets as a reminder for the public.
Although other wet markets did not undergo test, Lo who is also Batu Kitang state assemblyman assured that the MPP council have taken steps to ensure that the highest level of hygiene and SOP from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) were carried out.
Asking the public to be vigilant at all time and to follow the SOP implemented, Lo said it is not to penalise or to create panic but to combat the covid 19 together.
A total of 1000 leaflets with help from MPP councillors were distributed to the markets and the surrounding shops.
Taking seriously the fight against Covid 19, Lo is calling to members of the public to be the eye and ears of Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), by calling the phone numbers provided if they see anyone not following the SOP. He said the public should help by calling 0162391111 or text the number, preferable with photos shown if people do not practise SOP.
