Former Minister and his deputy KPDNHEP not concern about price hikes
Former deputy minister for KPDNHEP, Chong Chieng Jen has not done enough to effectively curb the price hike of goods during his tenure, said SUPP Youth Central Secretary, Milton Foo.
He said despite challenging Chong on a few occasions last year through the press to disclose the items of goods which he alleged the prices of 70 per cent of goods have gone down, there was nothing in ng concrete produced by Chong.
Foo added that in a recent joint statement by the previous PH government’s minister and Chong, which called on the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government to stick to the former government party’s price control policy while accusing the current government of being too slow to act is illogical.
and is unable to control the price hike well, I wish to state that during his tenure, Chong alleged that 70% or the prices of 291 items (out of 417 household items surveyed) was reduced, when answering a question raised by Datuk Alexander Nanta (PBB-Kapit) in Dewan Rakyat.
“I have since then demand that Chong disclose the so-called list of price-drop goods but when he eventually took up my challenge by releasing the list of cheaper goods, I found out the the price was incompatible with and different from the one produced by the retailers and merchants. I thereby asked Chong to look at what he has not done before pointing his fingers at others. Whether he has done the job well when he was the then deputy minister for KPDNHEP, the answer is plain and obvious. Public knows the facts speak volumes about it, ” he said.
