Wilfred Yap helps provide legal advise
SUPP Public Complaints Bureau (SUPP PCB) Chief, Wilfred Yap helped a 24 year old woman who was jailed to be released where she undergo a month observation at the Sentosa hospital.
Yap said he empathize with the father who was unable to afford a lawyer for his daughter when she was jailed for a drug offence. She was to undergo another drug charge and the father seek help from Yap. He also informed him that his daughter is serving the prison sentence as he could not raise enough money to help her daughter pay the fine imposed by the Court.
The father said his daughter have a mental health disorder problem and was incapable of rational decision making and she has been receiving treatment from a government psychiatric hospital at Kota Sentosa even during the time when her daughter pleaded guilty to a drug related offence for the first time.
Yap asked him to get a proper medical report from the government psychiatric hospital at Kota Sentosa on her daughter’s mental health condition and the treatment his daughter was receiving. When he received the medical report, Yap send it to the police investigating officer and to the presiding Magistrate.
