SPCB help with consumers’ right to claims
SUPP Public Complaints Bureau (PCB) have recently been receiving request for legal advice on dissatisfaction on goods or services purchased by traders, suppliers or manufacturers, especially on how to claim for reasonable compensation or refunds.
SUPP PCB would like to advice that any dissatisfied consumer may file his or her claim with the Consumer Tribunal. The Consumer Tribunal is an independent body established by the Government under the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism.
The primary function and objective of the Consumer Tribunal is to provide an alternative avenue for consumers to file their claim in a simple, inexpensive and speedy manner.
Under the Consumer Protection Act, a consumer means a person who buys goods or services for personal, domestic or household purpose.
SUPP PCB Chief, Wilfred Yap would also like to advice dissatisfied consumers not to suffer in silence but to stand up for their benefits and rights.
SUPP PCB would like to inform that the general public can get more information through the website https://ttpm.kpdnkk.gov.my/ or call 082-459022 or 082-459028.
