Grants for schools in Miri
Sarawak Local Government Minister, Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian gave federal government grant to all the SJK and SMJK schools in Miri yesterday afternoon.
In giving out the RM1.08 million grant, Dr. Sim who is also the Housing Minister with Piasau State Assemblyman, Dato’ Sebastian Ting gave the grant at the Chung Hua Krokop school to all the headmasters and headmistresses.
Dr. Sim said the beauty of Sarawak chinese schools are that they do not only cater to the Chinese students but all races and in some cases, there are more bumiputeras than chinese in the schools.
He said when these students graduated, they have a better chance of going global for their career including China. These students can proudly said they are the products of Chinese schools in Sarawak.
Education, he said, is important for the youngsters to get a foundation to their future careers, especially so in this borderless country.
