Opening ceremony of SJK Chung Hua Stampin Mobile Library.
Speech by YB Lo Khere Chiang, of Batu Kitang
I am very pleased to attend the opening ceremony of SJK Chung Hua Stampin Mobile Library.
In particular, I fully support Chung Hua Schools setting up mobile library to provide students with borrowing of extracurricular books, keeping students interested in reading and also to broaden their knowledge.
I would like to encourage the students of Chung Hua school, to use the mobile library, try to borrow more books, do more home reading. Students who read books regularly certainly can improve their language ability and composition level, it will help to improve one’s academic performance.
Generally reading will be able to help in good writings and the language ability of students who are fond of reading books, especially literature and science books. I would like to encourage the school to buy more books, so that students can benefit.
I also hope that the communities will be able to talk to the other Chung Hua Schools, for the establishment of more mobile library.
Generally speaking, the Chinese schools are setback with lack of funds, most can’t afford to buy more extra-curricular books, resulting in the school library books being very limited, so I urged the communities to donate books to Chung Hua schools, so that school libraries can have a wider option of books.
I believe that most people have books left in a corner after reading, do donate generously your used books to school library. I hope parents will buy suitable extra-curricular books or storybooks and novels to their children, cultivate the children’s interest in reading and writing.
Lastly, I would like to Thank SJK Chung Hua Stampin for their great hospitality, it’s been a wonderful journey to be participating in this mobile library project.
