Sarawak should ban serial rapists/child molester Selva Kumar
Sarawak should ban serial rapists/child molester Selva Kumar, who is scheduled to arrive in Kuala Lumpur Tuesday, from entering the state, as what Sabah has done.
Secretary-General of Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), Dato’ Sebastian Ting said people like Selva should not be allowed to walk the streets in Sarawak .
“Sarawak should declare him persona non grata as he could pose a danger to the public, especially to women and children.
To protect Sarawakians, the local authority should not take the risk of having such a potentially dangerous individual on the loose in our society. “We must protect our citizens. There are schools of thought among criminologist who believe in the process of rehabilitation for convicted serious offenders who have served their term, but Sarawak cannot take the risk of having such a person among our society. It is best that we take firm proactive steps rather regret later,” he added.
The relevant authority, said Ting, should give the necessary directive to the state Immigration Department to ban him from the state, to be enforced with immediate effect.
Selva has been convicted of drugging and sexually assaulting dozens of women in the late 1980s and early 1990s while posing as a modeling agent, movie producer and professional dancer.
The Canadian government has decided to deport him to Malaysia after serving his prison sentence in Canada.
