Youth SUPP Kuching branch walkabout
Youth chief of SUPP Kuching branch Stanley Lau urged the public to call 999 rather than recording an incident for the purpose of sharing on social networking sites such as Facebook.
He said people had been taking photos and putting them on social media instead of helping to alert the authority.
Lau and the SUPP Kuching members were doing a walkabout with the chief of Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Padungan, Mashidi Taha, along Jalan Padungan.
He said SUPP Kuching Youth aimed to create and enhance awareness of fire safety among the locals.
He added that the campaign was also meant to remind businessmen of the need to have fire prevention measures in place particularly in view of the coming festive season.
