SUPP fully support new Chief Minister in continuing the pledges of his predecessor
SUPP secretary-general Datuk Sebastian Ting said the party fully supported the newly-appointed Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg in continuing the pledges of his predecessor, saying it was about delivering the election promises as mandated.
He said in the last state election, as a member of Team Adenan and were given 87.8 per cent support of the people when he asked for five years to carry out these (pledges),” he said.
SUPP had wrestled back seven seats due to the popularity of Adenan of which Ting said they will be grateful for the late CM’s help and also a large part of it was due to his pledges in bringing Sarawak to see better days.
He said SUPP welcome the pledge by our new Chief Minister and will support him in continuing to deliver on these pledges. Adenan’s annual aid to the Chinese schools and fighting to eradicate corruption was like a fresh breath of air of which many Sarawakians supported what he was doing.
Ting said the recognition for the UEC and English as the second official language has been very welcomed besides a lot more other ‘people-friendly’ deeds done by the late CM.
