Making hawker stalls convenient and comfortable for visitors
Local Government Minister, Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian hoped to upgrade all the hawker stalls in Sarawak to ensure the local popular eating place is made convenient and comfortable for customers and visitors.
Officiating the RM189,740 roofing and facilities at the Hui Sing Hawker centre yesterday evening, Dr. Sim said his mission of giving to the people is taking shape daily in things done, not only through talking.
He said he knew some of the hawkers personally as they used to have stalls in Satok over 40 years ago and had moved to Hui Sing 22 years.
“The 22 hawker stalls are getting new roofing with 44 fans and 88 lighting. The upgrading of the facilities is a plus point for the hawkers who can now work even during rainy season and in a cleaner and brighter environment,” he added.
On a lighter note, Dr. Sim said he used to love going to the hawker stalls for his favourite fried kuey teow and now his son frequents the Hui Sing Hawker stall as he loves simple food.
This is the second hawker stall that has been upgraded. The first was in Batu Lintang.
