New Year message – SUPP Publicity and Information Secretary.
“2016 – A Bright Future for Sarawak”
I would like to wish all Sarawakians a Happy and fruitful New Year. I am sure 2016 will bring with it many opportunities and good outcomes for Sarawak as a State and us Sarawakians as individuals.
In 2015, we have gone through some challenging economic times especially for those affected by the downturn in some industries.
However, overall, we in Sarawak have a stable economic platform due to prudent economic management by our State Government led by our Chief Minister, YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Haji Adenan Bin Haji Satem. Sarawak has been strong enough to weather the global economic turmoil.
Collectively, we Sarawakians must maintain this strength and must not be influenced by outsiders negatively.
In 2016, SUPP; its members; its leadership and myself will continue to work hard towards the betterment of all Sarawakians.
In addition to many of our existing policies and efforts, we will place extra emphasis on Sarawak’s rights in relation to the Federal government and also very importantly the economic well-being of Sarawakians.
We will vigorously pursue policies and matters which will further enhance the economic stability in Sarawak. The creation of new entrepreneurial opportunities and jobs for Sarawakians is high on our agenda.
We know and understand the worries the global economic environment has brought to people.
The causes of these are beyond our control. An example is the decrease in the price of oil is mostly attributed to the increase in domestic output of oil production in the USA, leading to excess supplies in the market. This has lead to job losses here and a slowing down of investments in the oil industry.
Hope is important and we must as a people preservere and maintain a positive outlook in 2016. Having an optimistic attitude and the fortitude to overcome challenges will see us through towards better times in 2016.
It is advisable to always maintain calm in all circumstances and look at situations with foresight. We hope Sarawakians continue to realise that we have come a long way and progressed reasonably well in a peaceful environment with precisely this type of wise attitude.
We acknowledge more needs to be done. SUPP will work with the people to always make sure it will voice out and demand improvements to the living standards, safety and income of all Sarawakians.
SUPP as the longest established Sarawakian political party, serving passionately the people for 56 years pledges to be at the forefront in 2016.
Let us together make a brighter future and the right choices for a better Sarawak in 2016.
