Dr Sim on Budget 2016
Commenting on the recently announced budget, Dr Sim is glad with the continuing refinement of GST when it was announced more medicine and food are 0 rated, with Rural Air Service exempted from GST (similar to international flights), more equitable income tax (our rich fellow countryman helping the poorer one esp B40), increase in pension, govt servants salary and minimum wages as the cost of living is the most important concern, especially the the urban folks including those middle class (M40).
Though Sarawak has a reasonable share of rural roads, water and electricity supply, toll free Pan Borneo, interest free loan for rebuilding long houses and 1 Price 1 Sarawak, but we must fight for city transportation like the 1 Billion rapid Transit Bus Kota Kinabaru for Kuching.
The president of SUPP also added that we will need to look at the details and fight for the new primary and secondary schools, affordable housing, hospitals and clinic as proposed in the budget as Sarawak is in desperate need more just to catch up so that we are truly equal in having the same facilities as the rest of Malaysia.
