Police report against Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri

Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), Youth Secretary general, Milton Foo and Secretary of Pahlawan branch, Michael Tiang lodged a police report yesterday against Minister of Rural and Regional development, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob for making seditious remarks on August 11.

In a press conference after the police report at One Stop Centre, Foo and Tiang said they lodged the report due to two reasons:  one was for the police to investigate the case under Section 3(1)(e) of the Seditious Act 1948.

The second one was to enlighten the State Immigration department of what had occurred and for them to take appropriate action against Ismail even as barring him from entering Sarawak.  Chief Minister Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Adenan Satem had barred racists figures from entering Sarawak.

Ismail had said that he proposed for a Low Yat 2 to be opened at Mara Building and it will be for Malay businessmen and target 100 percent business from the Malay community.

Foo said he was disappointed as being a Federal Minister, he had the avenue to bring together Malaysians which were made up of multi-racial. He said the Low Yat incident had been confirmed by the police as one of criminal case initially.

We, in SUPP, he said, practised moderate politics and for a senior politician to utter radical and seditious remarks, this was deemed sending the wrong message to the multi-racial Malaysians and could create a wedge between the races.

Foo pointed out that this was not the first time Ismail had uttered racisms in his speech. In February this year, Ismail also called Malays to boycott Chinese traders. “ Just six months ago, he was talking in a radical tone and now he is doing the same thing. This is bad for a country like Malaysia where we should be working on bringing harmony and mutual respect for one another,” he said.

Saying that Sarawak had shown a good example of what racial harmony is all about, Foo said people who uttered racism and incite hatred against any race should be blocked from entering Sarawak.

The police report, according to Foo, would be send to the Immigration department for their record.
