SUPP Media release 4 Aug
By YB Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian, President of Sarawak United Peoples’ Party.
“Only BN Component Party Candidates for all Constituencies !”
Chairman of the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), YB Senator Datuk Sim Kui Hian clearly and unequivocally states that SUPP will be fielding its candidates in all of its 19 allotted constituencies within the BN framework in the upcoming elections for Sarawak Legislative Assembly. This includes any additional constituencies under the proposed new election boundary review.
SUPP will firmly reject any non Barisan National (BN) proposed candidates to be selected under the BN banner. This type of selection would not does not comply with BN policies.
We have identified and proposed good suitable candidates to contest in all our allotted seats including Bengoh, Opar, Engkilili and Bawang Asan seats.
SUPP has submitted a list of potential candidates who can win the upcoming state election. Candidates we have chosen are within BN family and meet the criteria’s set by the BN. Additionally, SUPP has allocated more than one potential candidates in each constituency.
BN will win more seats in the elections if the potential candidates were chosen by adhering to the principles of BN.
A clear and decisive win by BN in the upcoming state election will enable and enhance the ability of BN to pledge to defend the rights and the interests of the people of Sarawak
SUPP fully supports the concept of “merger of minds” amongst the BN component parties as proposed by the chairman of Parti Rakyat Sarawak ( PRS ) , Tan Sri James Masing . We strongly believe this concept helps to maintain and further strengthen the unity of the parties under the BN including Parti Pesaka Bumiputera (PBB ) , Sarawak United People’s Party ( SUPP ) , Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party ( SPDP ) and Parti Rakyat Sarawak ( PRS )
No matter which of the component parties in BN has a problem, it should be considered as an internal matter of BN as a whole, with each component party supporting each other. Therefore collaborating, thinking and taking concerted action as a single entity is essential to further enhance cooperation among the BN component parties and against the threat of opposition parties or non-coalition based parties.
We would once again like to remind political parties other than the BN component parties not to interfere in the internal affairs of BN.
SPDP Chairman, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing has also clearly stated that SPDP asserts it rights and eligibility to compete in it’s the 8 allotted constituencies. He stressed that the supreme council and members of the SPDP has made a firm stand and will not surrender its seats to any political party, especially not to any non-component parties of BN.
Datuk Seri Tiong reminded BN in a statement yesterday that if BN allows candidates from non-component political parties or so called BN friendly political parties to stand for election under the BN banner, it will cause great instability to SPDP. He emphasised that SPDP will not allow this to happen again.
SUPP wholeheartedly supports Datuk Seri Tiong’s statement that SPDP has strengthened itself and there are no internal problems within the party. Therefore, they do not require the participation of non-component BN political parties. SPDP will field its own candidates to contest in its 8 BN seats for the State Legislative Assembly.
As a member of the Sarawak BN, SUPP fully agrees that all members of the Sarawak BN must be firm in upholding the original principles of BN. One of the core principle is that other parties wishing to join Sarawak BN requires the approval of all its four members which includes PBB, SUPP, SPDP and PRS.
The concept of “One for All and ALL for One” must be complied with and respected.
