SUPP Youth Central supports Moderation Appeal

Supp youth central publicity secretary cum Pending Branch youth secretary Milton Foo in a press statement on 16 Dec says, moderation policy implemented since the founding of our country may be destroyed by some extremists who not only threaten the peace and stability of the country, but also seriously undermine all efforts of the Government striving towards national unity and racial harmony.

Issues with high sensitivity simmering race, religion, education are on the verge especially in the light of the extremist’s movement that may go out of control if the government turns a blind eye to the extremists and law enforcement agencies fail to use existing laws to safeguard national peace and harmony, resulting moderate principles long practised in our country by all Malaysian in ruin.

Fortunately, under the leadership of Sarawak CM Tan Sri Adenan Satem, these insensitive topics will not exist and the extremists who advocated extremism will never survive in Sarawak. SUPP as one of the BN coalition party will at all costs preserve Sarawakian’s rights and interests and resist in the strongest manner the extremism practices over Sarawak. Milton Foo also called for the ruling and opposition parties to put aside political prejudices and political affiliations, and put their hands together to safeguard the doctrine of moderation practised in Malaysia.

In view of this, Milton Foo appeals to the public to render full support to the moderation appeal by the 25 eminent Malays who issued a joint statement over resistance of extremists and 33 prominent people (from the industrial and commercial organizations, academic, the legal profession, retired senior officials, non-governmental organizations, and they include the Chinese, Malay, Indian representatives of three races) who also promote moderation and propose a dialogue being held in order to maintain the spirit of the Federal Constitution and to defend our country against extremists scourge.

Meanwhile, Milton Foo also strongly criticised PERKASA President Datuk Ibrahim Ali for his “declaration of war against his fellows Malays” and the former Chief Justice of Malaysia Tun Abdul Hamid’s theory of “Chinese takeover” as a mockery, nonsense and narrow-minded; ignoring the diversity of social structure in the Malaysian contexts and its religious freedom as enshrined in the Federal Constitution.

Earlier on, Ibrahim Ali said the 25 eminent Malays (former civil servants & influential leaders who recently signed an open letter calling for a stop to extremism in Malaysia) were cowards for criticising Malay rights groups like Perkasa and Isma and he told the liberal Malays “I am not apologetic and if it is war that they want, we will go to war”. Whereas Tun Abdul Hamid on Sunday during his opening speech at the annual General Assembly of Perkasa pointed out that when the Malays are fighting among themselves,  the non-Malays especially the Chinese sees the opportunity to take over in politic, even though the Chinese are already in control of the national economy, education and other areas.
