Illegal posters/banners
SUPP Public Complaints Bureau Chief, Wilfred Yap was recently invited by the enforcement team of Padawan Municipal Council to participate in their patrol and enforcement duties covering 3rd Mile Maong Bazaar, Jalan Batu Kawa, Jalan Dogan, Jalan Arang and Jalan Penrissen.
During the patrol, enforcement officers from Padawan Municipal Council removed a total of 187 illegal money lender posters and 10 illegal banners put up on trees, sign boards, lamp poles and public area. Despite regular removal by MPP enforcement officers, the problem persists and many more need to be removed. Wilfred Yap was glad that MPP Enforcement team carried their routine patrol and do the necessary as he has received numerous complaints on the illegal money lender poster / bunting in their neighborhood.
SUPP PCB Chief, Wilfred Yap who is also a Padawan Municipal Councillor, will raise this issue to the relevant authorities on the proliferation of illegal posters and banners as this is visual pollution and is against efforts by the Government to create a cleaner and greener living environment.
Amongst the matters that will be brought up would be for violators who put up illegal posters and banners pay for the removal costs, to prosecute violators to the full extent of the law, to serve as deterrence and to seek for an amendment to relevant laws to increase the penalty for offenders.
