William Ghani Bina
Secretary general of Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), Dato’ Sebastian Ting expressed shock over the sudden demise of former Sarawak Teachers Union (STU) President William Ghani Bina who passed away in a car accident on Saturday.
Ting, who went to pay his last respect to Ghani today (Sunday), said he was sad to hear of his passing on and had in the past met up with the latter often to discuss issues on education.
“It is a great loss to Sarawak that this great anak of Sarawak is gone. He had spend a good many years fighting for both his profession and for education. He was known to all from all levels of society in Sarawak. We in the SUPP are very sad by this loss,” said Ting.
Ghani was on his way back to his house on Wednesday night at Mile 3 when he was hit by a car. He subsequently succumbed to his injuries.
A teacher from Kuching High, Ghani retired from the teaching profession last year.
He left behind his wife, Eileen, daughters Serina and Melina.
