Malaysians Stranded in Hatyai Flood Contact SUPP Public Complaints Bureau Chief Milton Foo

SUPP Public Complaints Bureau Chief Milton Foo said he has been contacted by Malaysians who were stranded in the Hatyai flood. The good news is, he said, some are getting back due to receding waters.

In a press statement at the SUPP headquarters today, Foo said several tourists who reached out to him informed that they had managed to leave their hotels and arrived at Central Festival Hatyai while preparing to return to Sarawak.

Foo said that from seven hotels that contacted him, there were a total of one hundred and ninety nine Malaysians affected.

He added that many people in Hatyai have been suffering without power and disrupted essential services over the past four days.

According to Foo, the group is staying in several hotel buildings, including elderly and middle aged individuals who told him they have run out of medications.

Foo said that upon receiving the calls for help, he immediately contacted the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sarawak Branch and the Consulate General of Malaysia in Songkhla.

He advised those seeking help to remain calm, prioritise the safety of the elderly and children, and maintain communication until the rescue team arrives.
