Second Borneo Fastpitch Softball Championship Concludes Successfully
The four-day Second Borneo Fastpitch Softball Championship concluded yesterday, with Kuching’s HeadHunters team emerging as the champions. Brunei’s BlackArrow team took second place, Miri’s Tsunami team secured third, while Bintulu’s MLNG Millennium team finished fourth.
The closing and award ceremony was officiated yesterday afternoon by Sarawak Deputy Minister of Tourism, Sebastian Ting.
Ting said the championship, organized by the Sarawak Softball Association, was held in Miri from November 13 to 16 and featured 12 teams from Sarawak and Brunei, including two teams from Kuching, four from Miri, two from Bintulu, and four from Brunei, showcasing the skills and competitive spirit of regional teams.
He added, “This event not only highlighted the technical level and teamwork of Borneo players but also effectively promoted regional sports tourism. I commend the organizers for successfully bringing together strong teams to deliver a high-level competition, ensuring continued growth of softball in Sarawak. We hope that more teams from neighboring regions will join in the future to further elevate the standard of the sport.”
