SUPP CENTRAL YOUTH PRESS STATEMENT 31/07/2014
SUPP Youth demands that Sarawak DAP apologizes to all the voters who voted their candidates during the 13th General Elections, the majority of whom are from the Chinese and non-Muslim Bumiputera communities, for their failure in upholding the rights of the Chinese and non-Muslim Bumiputeras within the context of Malaysia Agreement and Federal Constitution. Another apology should also be made by Sarawak DAP for their failure in ensuring that the pledges made during the 13th General Elections are fulfilled.
Secretary General Wilfred Yap is very shocked with the recent leaked Whatsapp Chat message revelation by a PAS Central Committee member that clearly showed that PAS was pushing for the Malay supremacist agenda which is totally contrary to the Pakatan Rakyat’s (PR) 13th General Election Manifesto or “Buku Jingga”. Unfortunately, despite being supported based on their PR Manifesto or “Buku Jingga”, it appears that the bulk of the promises made therein have conveniently been forgotten.
A coalition like Pakatan Rakyat should be guided by the inspiration and direction and strive to build a fair and progressive community. The recent events show that PAS, DAP and PKR in Sarawak each get direction from three different peninsular based party leaders who do not co-exist for the betterment of our society and further that PAS, DAP and PKR work for self-interest as can be deduced by the decisions of their peninsular based leaders which are usually for their personal interest and agenda.
DAP Sarawak instead of just making empty threats to leave Sarawak PR should now not give excuses or delay leaving Sarawak PR to prove to the people of Sarawak that Sarawak DAP is not a stooge or “Pak Turut” of their political masters from Peninsular Malaysia. DAP Sarawak should put their foot where their mouth is (i.e) put the Chinese and non-Muslim Bumiputera communities of Sarawak first as it was this same group of people from Sarawak that gave DAP Sarawak candidates their support. Any delay by DAP Sarawak to leave Sarawak PR is a betrayal of the trust of the Chinese and non-Muslim Bumiputera communities of Sarawak.
SUPP Youth hopes that DAP Sarawak should now do the right thing by pulling of Sarawak PR to prove their sincerity to the Chinese and non-Muslim Bumiputera communities of Sarawak which contributed the majority of DAP Sarawak votes. NO MORE EXCUSES OR DELAY.
