Yap to DAP – get out of Pakatan Sarawak…
SUPP Youth Secretary General Wilfred Yap express his shock with the recent revelation by DAP Sarawak that PAS and PKR did not want to discuss the issue on Pakatan Rakyat(PR)’s stand on the Hudud law issue during the recent Sarawak PR meeting.
Yap said despite threatening and issuing an ultimatum to pull out of Sarawak PR on the Hudud law issue, Sarawak PKR with only two DUN seats and Sarawak PAS without even a single DUN seat, have instead expressed regret and disappointment and stated that DAP Sarawak was free to leave the Sarawak PR.
All this points to the fact that DAP Sarawak, despite contributing 13 DUN seats, is merely a bystander, a “toothless tiger” and a “Pak Turut” within the PR and their voice is of no consequence to the policy direction of the State PR. The condemnation from both Sarawak PKR and PAS against DAP Sarawak for threatening to leave Sarawak PR is concrete evidence on the ineffectiveness of DAP Sarawak to have its voice heard in PR, let alone have any meaningful voice within the Sarawak PR Coalition, said Yap.
“The only conclusion that can be drawn is that DAP Sarawak is ineffective and merely “all talk and no action”. This clearly proves that the DAP cannot be relied upon by the Chinese, Indians and non-Muslim Bumiputera communities to uphold their rights within the context of the Malaysia Agreement and Federal Constitution,” he added.
SUPP Youth hopes that DAP Sarawak should now do the right thing by pulling out of Sarawak PR to prove their sincerity to the Chinese, Indians and non-Muslim Bumiputera communities which contributed to the majority of DAP Sarawak votes.
