Miri City Day 2024 celebration

A Flag raising ceremony was held in conjunction with Miri City Day 2024 on Monday May 20.

Mayor Adam Yii and Councilors as well as staff of Miri City Council (MCC), 450 staffs of MCC, Head of Department of the state and federal agencies coming together not just to raise the flag of City of Miri but to remember the journey of MCC from fishing village to the second City in Sarawak which is modern, vibrant and dynamic with the reaffirmation of the aspiration to be one of the most livable resort city of international status.

Yii who is the Organising Chairman, it is an honour to welcome each one of you to this grand celebration of our Miri City Council’s 19th Anniversary.

He said this year’s Miri MayFest is set to celebrate the 19th Anniversary of Miri City Council, surpassing all expectations. We have total of 43 events and 3 menus that has been registered with Miri MayFest 2024.

It promises a lineup of events and activities from 1st May to 31st May 2024 and Miri MayFest is a platform to showcase the incredible talent and creativity of our city.

The theme for this year Miri MayFest is Equatorial Harmony: A melting pot of cultures and flavours. Miri being located near to the equator line has the peaceful and harmony element to showcase where Miri has more than half of the ethnic groups out of the official 34 and we are able to live in harmony. With that much of ethnic groups, I believe we have so much more to offer to our tourists and visitors from our friendship cities in terms of culture and foods.
